Author to Launch Novel at Michael-Ann Russell JCC – Sun Sentinel

Author Rochelle Weinstein is thrilled to launch her latest novel at a place she has long had a connection to – the Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center in North Miami Beach.

Weinstein, who lives in Bay Harbor Islands, premieres “When We Let Go” at 7 p.m. May 17 at MARJCC’s Alan & Diane Lieberman Theater, 18900 NE 25th Ave. in North Miami Beach. The launch event includes a reception, book signing and Weinstein discussing his novel in conversation with book influencer Lauren Margolin, the writer and creator of the blog, Good book fairy.

Weinstein’s book credits include “What We Leave Behind”, “The Mourning After”, “Where We Fall”, “Somebody’s Daughter”, and “This is Not How it Ends”. In “When We Let Go,” readers meet Avery, a woman haunted by a painful tragedy from her past and the path she takes to overcome her grief and guilt.

Weinstein grew up in Miami and attended the University of Maryland, where she earned her journalism degree. After graduating, Weinstein moved to California to begin her writing career with the LA Weekly before returning to Miami, where she gave birth to twins.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to launch my seventh novel in a place that has been an extension of our family,” Weinstein said. “From 1978 to 2021, we lived within blocks of the JCC, attended summer camps and after-school programs, and watched our children play tournaments and Maccabi games on the courts. Community is important to me, and performing at the JCC comes home to me, just like Avery Beckett does in “When We Let Go.”

The JCC is offering the book launch as part of its free Meet the Author Jewish Book Series, presented in partnership with Beth Torah Benny Rok Campus, Chabad Chayil, Mishkan Miami of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, and Temple Sinai of North Dade.

Beth Albert, a member of the JCC’s Meet the Author Jewish Book Series committee, said: “We are extremely thrilled to be blessed with such a well-published author as Rochelle Weinstein – a local talent who is part of our Jewish community. local – launch his latest literary work here with us at MARJCC for the closing program of this season’s annual Meet the Author series.
